For this performance, patrons may choose their own ticket price, and 100% of proceeds  will be donated to the Sarasota African American Cultural Coalition (SAACC). The initiative reflects Asolo Rep’s ongoing commitment to making world-class theatre accessible to all members of the Sarasota community. Marie and Rosetta, which celebrates the legacy of Sister Rosetta Tharpe, the godmother of Rock ‘n’ Roll, and her protégée Marie Knight, opens May 8 and runs through May 31.

“Theatre should be for everyone, and this performance is our way of putting that belief into action. Marie and Rosetta tells the story of two extraordinary African American women whose music forever changed American popular song. We are proud to partner with the Sarasota African American Cultural Coalition, whose work celebrates the artistic contributions of African Americans in our region.”
