WHAT CAN STUDENTS EXPECT?
Students can expect a week of hands-on learning, creative collaboration, and skill building alongside professional theatre artists. Whether exploring acting, musical theatre, or costume design, each intensive offers the opportunity to grow confidence, make new friends, and gain real-world experience in a fun and supportive environment.
“I think it was very valuable to have an experience where we felt it was okay to fail. We didn’t feel like there was this overwhelming expectation on us that just because we were sitting in the room with professionals, that we had to be perfect all the time.” – Alexia, Manatee School for the Arts Student
WHAT MAKES THIS PROGRAM DIFFERENT?
Our teachers do.
At Asolo Repertory Theatre, our instructors are working artists, actively performing and creating onstage and backstage. Their experience spans Broadway, collegiate classrooms, and professional costume shops.
Many of our teaching artists are connected to the FSU/Asolo Conservatory for Actor Training, as well as other collegiate programs, including the University of Florida.
Students will gain real insight into what it takes to succeed beyond middle and high school theatre.
“Compared to other workshops that I’ve taken, you get more from the professional industry standpoint, for people that are trying to pursue this as an actual career.” – Silas, Booker High School Student
A Message From Terrance Jackson
“Born and raised right here in Sarasota, I was once a student who discovered a passion for theatre. Now, as a professional, I’m proud to help create the opportunities I wish I had growing up.
Something was missing during the summer. An opportunity to continue growing locally, like my friends who had access to athletic camps and off-season training. That’s why we created these summer intensives for students ready to take the next step.
Whether you’re preparing for high school program auditions or pursuing collegiate opportunities to earn your BFA, this program is designed for students who are serious about theatre. We’d love to support you on your journey this summer.”
