Acting Classes – Acting Techniques l – lV
Asolo Rep’s progressive Acting Technique classes are designed for adult theatre lovers looking to develop and refine their performance skills. From Foundations of Acting to Acting Shakespeare, students receive holistic, hands-on training in stage acting. Taught by professional teaching artists, these courses provide a supportive and immersive environment for actors at any stage of their journey to grow and explore.
New to the series? Start with Acting Techniques I.
Completion of Acting Techniques I is required before progressing to Acting Techniques II, III, or IV.

Led by James Monaghan, Asolo Rep’s Director of New Works and Dramaturgy, this interactive program features two-part guided discussions for four incredible titles: Ma Rainey’s Black Bottom, The Royal Family, The Day the Circus Came to Town, and Provenance. Asolo Rep’s inaugural Play Reading Club brought together theatre lovers for an engaging exploration of the work of acclaimed playwright Lauren Gunderson, one of America’s most-produced living playwrights. Guided by James Monaghan, Asolo Rep’s Director of New Works and Dramaturgy, participants read and discussed six plays from Gunderson’s celebrated body of work, examining her distinctive voice, themes, and storytelling style.
Focus On: Fiddler launched Asolo Rep’s new Focus On series, introducing audiences to a richer way of experiencing theatre. Guided by James Monaghan, participants read the libretto, attended a performance of Fiddler on the Roof, and gathered for thoughtful discussions before and after the production, creating a deeper connection to both the text and the live performance.
