ASOLO REPERTORY THEATRE presents
an FSU/ Asolo Conservatory for Actor Training Production

Julius Caesar
By William Shakespeare
Directed by James Dean Palmer
Adapted by Tyler Dobrowsky

“The abuse of greatness is when it disjoins remorse from power.

Julius Caesar endures as a provocative examination of personal responsibility against the backdrop of great political consequences. In a fast-paced adaptation both intimate and ruthless, the next generation will have the chance to ask how each of us must weigh the greater good against the advice of friends, the roar of public opinion, the strategic advantages, the personal costs, and the compass of our own hearts.

Presented by Asolo Rep and the FSU/Asolo Conservatory for Actor Training, the annual educational tour brings exciting 45-minute adaptations of classic literature to schools and community venues throughout the state of Florida. Shakespeare’s original language comes alive through energetic contemporary staging, performed by the talented young artists of the FSU/Asolo Conservatory.

Julius Caesar Production Guide will be available in Fall 2017.

ARE ANY PERFORMANCES OPEN TO THE PUBLIC?

In addition to dozens of school visits, the 2017 tour will include several community performances which are open to the public. This information will be available in Fall 2017.

WHAT IS A TOUR PERFORMANCE LIKE?

The production is professionally staged but designed with minimal technical requirements so it can perform in a variety of venues. In 60 minutes our artists present a fast-paced performance, immediately followed by a post-show discussion with the cast. Educational resources, including a production guide and video resources for classrooms, address Florida and Next Generation Sunshine State Standards. Professional development workshops for teachers may also be available upon request or through your school district.

WHO SHOULD SEE THIS PRODUCTION?

This production is specifically conceived to reach school, college, and community groups, and is recommended for grades 6 and up. This adaptation will provide an accessible introduction to live Shakespeare performance for first-time audiences, but the imaginative and theatrical staging will also delight and enrich students who have already studied Shakespeare's work. Our touring productions hope to inspire audiences at every level of experience to the wonderful possibilities contained within classic plays.
